The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) has accredited Alberto Pirni, professor of Moral Philosophy at the Sant’Anna School as member of the Italian Delegation of the Nineteenth World Meteorological Congress (Cg-19). The World Meteorological Organization is an intergovernamental organization by the United Nations. As one of the Agencies of UN, the World Meteorological Organization is a body gathering representatives and delegations from the 191 member States.

The event will take place in Geneva from May 22nd to June 2nd, 2023, providing an opportunity for all Member States and Territories of the WMO to gather around the same table. The World Meteorological Congress not only represents a high-profile platform for discussion and international collaboration on meteorological, climatic, and hydrological issues, but also aims to promote interaction and cooperation among member states to address global challenges related to climate, atmospheric monitoring, and water resource management.

Alberto Pirni brings with him extensive expertise and experience in the field of ethics and moral philosophy: his nomination to the Italian Delegation underscores the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing one of the most looming threats that humanity is facing.

During the Congress, the Italian Delegation will have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other experts and delegates from around the world to discuss and define policies and strategies that guide the WMO in promoting environmental sustainability, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation.
